  This is a fun municipal track. Don't listen to the haters on google. Its a mountain course with great views and scenery. It will only make you a better player in the long run.

  I was going to rate this course less than 1 but sadly it's not possible on the Google rating scale.
  
  I am an avid and very good golfer but I am struggling to find anything good to say about Granite Pointe Golf Club.
  
  It's a Les Furber designed golf course but I don't think Les had much to work with. There are a couple of nice views but that's it. There's no signature hole or anything memorable about the course except that is, literally, on the side of a mountain.
  
  The course winds its way around hills surrounding the south-west side Nelson, BC. Holes are either up hill or down hill with lots of side hill areas and large moguls. Yes, moguls. These are frequently seen in rough areas to prevent the ball from heading too far into out of bounds or into an adjoining fairway. While moguls do help to contour the narrow course, they are also a feature in the middle of a many fairways. As my wife remarked, is Granite Pointe used as a ski hill in the off season? Some fairways would make decent black diamond runs.
  
  Granite Pointe is also a very short course, only 6200 yards when played from the blues and par 70. Given the location and yardage, the course utilizes a lot of sharp dog legs. There's only two holes where hitting a driver is advantageous. A solid iron or fairway driver is best for the rest of the course where you hit 150 - 200 yards. This is target golf. Every shot is a uphill, downhill and/or side hill. It requires good knowledge of the course to hit the target areas where a flat lie is possible.
  
  Green fee is $54 but it's only a $35 course.
